About Me

Hi There!
Thanks for stopping in! My name is Kasey and I'm the one behind the keyboard and that's my hubby, Mark (the one that does most of the work!).

We got married in 2005 and decided that we (you know when I say we, I actually mean Mark) would build our first house. We had a little under 4 acres and a brand new house which we moved into in April 2006.

We welcomed our first baby boy in 2008

In 2011, we had our second baby, a girl.

Our first house only had three bedrooms and the layout wasn't ideal for our growing family. Not to mention, the location was a 45 minute commute to my job. We intended on only building to sell after a couple years. We were there for seven years. Go figure!

Once we found out we were going to be expecting our third baby in 2013, we knew it was time to put the house up for sale and look for something different. We had one goal. We wanted a fixer-upper! This was my dream. To fix up something that already has character, to make it new and beautiful again, to mix in modern touches while maintaining the character of the home.

We ended up selling our house in 9 days! We were excited but hadn't looked at any houses yet. I thought looking at fixer-uppers would be fun, like it happens on tv, like walking around and dreaming of what we could do - what walls could come down and it would be the perfect home for us. I was thinking it would be tough to make a decision. It was NOT that way at all. We saw some rough places. Like poop on the floor, colorful graffiti, foundations falling apart, zero % character rough...

Mark wanted land, I wanted something closer to work.

We moved in with my parents while we looked for the perfect place. We brought our third baby, a boy, home to my parents house in August of 2013.

Soon after that we found our little house on 20 acres. The location is literally perfect for us. And it's a major fixer-upper with some cool character. Check, check and check! It only has three bedrooms and 1 bathroom but we plan to change that and the third bedroom is huge so multiple children can easily share that room.

We.were.sold! We purchased the house in October 2013.

We had our work cut out for us! Practically everything needed to be updated or replaced. It was in pretty bad shape (Read so gross and needed to be bulldozed really but we sucked it up and put a lot of work into it!).

We finally were able to move in July 2014! We still have a lot to do. Big projects and little projects and I look forward to continuing to share what's happening here on this little blog of ours. As we complete projects and rooms I will post updates. Check in weekly  to see whats going on and what new project we have up our sleeves!

Here is the post with photos from the home just prior to purchasing. It's a mess...don't say I didn't warn you!
